Somatic Contact Dance
About
Contact and connection are fundamental aspects of life—we are constantly meeting them in different ways. Some connections can feel overwhelming, leading us to disconnect, react, and activate our survival mechanisms. And sometimes, we have the capacity to hold the potency of connection, allowing us to dive deeper into intimacy with ourselves and others.
When we bring this dynamic into the realm of contact dance and integrate specific techniques, movement becomes a powerful vessel for deeper connection, playfulness, fun, and authentic relating.
In this session, we will begin by establishing connection within ourselves—tuning into our inner authority before extending into connection with others. We will explore the layers of connection, understanding how to navigate them with awareness and choice. From there, we will dive into contact dance tools and dynamics that serve as movement communication techniques, enriching all our future dances.
To close, we will bring everything together in a beautiful group flow, integrating what we’ve learned into a collective experience of movement, presence, and shared energy.
This session will offer you practical tools to:
Connect with yourself and others through movement
Develop skills in contact dance
Move beyond the dance into deeper, embodied connection
The workshop will incorporate elements of somatic movement, group dynamics, contact beyond contact, and some special surprises along the way. Join us for a journey into the art of connection—within, with others, and through the dance itself.
